Understanding the Plasma Lift Procedure

The Plasma Lift is the latest non-surgical, non-invasive skin tightening treatment, that fights the signs of aging.  Here at Brilliant Skin Studio, we use the special Plamere Plasma Pen, which is an FDA approved medical plasma device to perform fibroblast lifting treatments.

As we age, our skin loses collagen, and the elasticity starts to diminish, leading to wrinkles and sagging skin.  The Plasma Pen skin tightening targets and revives fibroblasts, which are cells responsible for the production of collagen and maintaining connective tissue in our bodies. This non-surgical treatment is used to increase those fibroblasts in order to lift, tighten and rejuvenate various areas of the skin - all with no cuts, no stitches, no scalpels, and no injectable anesthetics.

The Plasma Pen creates an arc between the skin and the needle, which never touches your skin.  This arc forces immediate contraction of the skin tissue at the surface and causes a thermal disruption within the dermis below, targeting the fibroblasts specifically.  This precision trauma to the epidermis of the skin causes carbon crusts to form, which generally fall off within 5 -10 days, leaving behind new and rejuvenated skin at the surface.  Immediate results can be seen and will continue to improve over the next 8-12 weeks.

What skin types can be safely treated with the Plasma Pen?

Plasma Lift works on light to medium skin tones.  On the Fitzpatrick Skin Type Scale (a classification system developed by Thomas Fitzpatrick, MD of Harvard Medical School) skin types I, II, and III can safely be treated with Plasma Pen.  Skin type IV can be treated as well, but this can only be determined by doing consultation and may require a patch test be done first.  Anyone higher than a level IV skin type may run the risk of hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation using the Plasma Pen, therefore we do not want to take that risk.

FAQ’s

-Healing time and what to expect?

We do not suggest making any plans for a beach vacation or a hot date right after your Plasma Lift treatment, as you will definitely need to plan for some “social downtime”, which is approximately one week.  After your treatment using the Plamere Plasma Pen, on average, the healing time is between 7-14 days, depending on the area being treated. You'll likely notice redness, swelling, and there will be scabbing around the treated area of the skin. The swelling should begin the following day after your treatment and peak around day 3, before subsiding.  There is always more swelling in the eye area.  The carbon crusts usually start to fall off around the one-week mark.

Healing times may be compromised if the proper after-care protocol isn't followed, so we'll give you the lowdown on what to do and what not to do to ensure you achieve the best possible results from our treatments.

-How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments required will vary according to the area being treated, skin laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment. Most patients will only need one treatment and will see results instantly, and this continues to improve over the course of the following 8 to 12 weeks. Some clients may need more than one treatment initially to achieve better results and more lifting and tightening. Appointments must be spaced out by 8-12 weeks. We also suggest touch up treatments every one to two years, depending on your individual skincare goals.

-Is the Plasma Pen safe for all?

Your safety is our first priority and the Plasma Lift may not be suitable for everyone.
